About

Leyden High School District 212 is a comprehensive high school district located in Chicago’s near west suburbs. Students live in Northlake, Franklin Park, Schiller Park, River Grove, Rosemont, and unincorporated areas of Melrose Park.

Leyden is accredited by Cognia and the Illinois State Board of Education.


FACULTY

There are 297 licensed teachers of which 80.4% have a master’s degree or higher. There are 16 full-time counselors, six social workers, two full-time speech pathologists, and two health care aides.


SCHEDULE

Leyden uses a schedule that allows students to take seven courses per

semester and includes an Advisory period for all students.

ATHLETICS

Leyden students have the opportunity to participate in 23 interscholastic sports, 11 sports for young women and 12 for young men. Participation is offered on several levels, including Varsity, Jr. Varsity, Sophomore, and

Freshmen. There is also a full intramural program for those choosing a less challenging involvement. Outstanding facilities include swimming pools, fitness centers, and a climbing wall.
